Abstract

Infection in hospital or nosocomial infection is a serious problem that causes direct or indirect death of the patient. Many factor influence surgical wound healing and determine the potential for infection. These include patient-related (endogenous) and process/procedural-relatde (exogenous) variables that affect a patient’s risk of developing an surgical site infections. Therefore, the prevention of infection is complicated and requires the integration of various precautions before, during and after surgery. In the percentage of research on nurse knowledge in reducing the risk of infection is obtained only 45% of nurses can answer the questions given correctly. The objective of the study was to identify nurse knowledge about risk reduction of infection in postoperative wound patients at nurse station on the fifth floor of Siloam Hospitals Manado. The research design used is quantitative method with descriptive research design. The results show knowledge in good category with a percentage of 67.9%. The researcher suggests to nursing and nursing education the importance of knowledge nurses should have about reducing the risk of infection as a guide in nursing practice and infection prevention and control / Infeksi di rumah sakit atau infeksi nosokomial merupakan persoalan serius yang menjadi penyebab langsung maupun tidak langsung kematian pasien. Beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi infeksi luka operasi termasuk yang berhubungan dengan pasien (endogen) dan proses/prosedural terkait (eksogen) variabel yang mempengaruhi perkembangan resiko pasien mengalami infeksi luka operasi. Oleh karena itu, pencegahan infeksi ini rumit dan memerlukan integrasi berbagai tindakan pencegahan sebelum, selama dan setelah operasi. Dalam persentase penelitian tentang pengetahuan perawat dalam pengurangan resiko infeksi diperoleh hanya 45% perawat dapat menjawab pertanyaan yang diberikan dengan benar. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengidentifikasi pengetahuan perawat tentang pengurangan resiko infeksi pada pasien luka post operasi di nurse station lantai lima Siloam Hospitals Manado. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian deskriptif. Hasil menunjukkan pengetahuan dalam kategori baik dengan persentase yaitu 67,9%. Peneliti menyarankan kepada bidang keperawatan dan pendidikan keperawatan pentingnya pengetahuan yang harus dimiliki perawat tentang pengurangan resiko infeksi sebagai pedoman dalam praktik keperawatan dan pencegahan dan pengendalian infeksi.
