Abstract

Performance of banks is considered to be very important because there are number of parties including investors, creditors, customers, employees and government who will become their stakeholders in running the business. The SeUfRUPaQce Rf baQN iV aVVeVVed baVed RQ Whe cRPSaQ\¶V fiQaQciaO PaQagePeQW which can be seen from financial statements that are regularly issued by banks for public which in this context, the banks are listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange. The objective of this study is to compare the financial performance of Islamic banks and conventional banks that are listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange. The method used in this study is quantitative descriptive research. The sample size is 34 conventional banks and 2 Islamic banks which data are collected WhURXgh IQdRQeVia SWRcN E[chaQge¶V ZebViWe aQd aQaO\Ved b\ XViQg SPSS Y25 fRU Mac. Data analysis methods used in this research are descriptive statistics, normality test, and Mann-Whitney test.Based on the research result, the Mann-Whitney test confirmed that there is a significant difference in profitability, solvency, efficiency and asset quality between conventional banks and Islamic banks. However, there is no a significant difference in liquidity between conventional and Islamic banks. It is recommended for the companies whether it is conventional banks or Islamic banks to enhance their financial performance by doing benchmarking towards each other to gain a competitive advantage in the financial industry.
