Abstract

According to Joint Commission International, the goal of patient safety is the effective communication. One effective communication method is SBAR communication method (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation), which uses structured tools to achieve critical thinking skills and saving time. However, effectiveness of SBAR is less realized by nurse. Nurse knowledge of effective communication especially communication with SBAR method for improve patient safety is less realized nurse too. The use of SBAR communication is helpful in reporting the condition of the patient by the nurse to the other health worker so that it can increase the patient safety level. Effective communication especially communication with SBAR method is less realized by nurse inpatient hospital Siloam Bali to improve patient safety. To know how the picture of communication method of communication of SBAR in 5th floor inpatient of Sioam Bali Hospital. Using the descriptive quantitative research type with observation method. The research instrument used in the form of observation checklist (√).The population of this tudy are all nurses of 5th floor inpatient ward which amounted to 35 nurses. Sampling for the study using total sampling. Total sampling is a sampling technique in which the number of samples is equal to the number of population.The research result that the communication component on the implementation SBAR as 6 nurses (17%) and 29 (83%) nurses didn't do communications SBAR. Based on the above findings, the results suggested a hospital nurse Siloam Bali can get training and simulation/roleplay SBAR communication implementation to enhance competence in communicating effectively and improve patient safety / Latar belakang: Sasaran keselamatan pasien menurut Joint Commission International, salah satunya adalah meningkatkan komunikasi yang efektif (Improve Effective Communication). Salah satu metode komunikasi yang efektif adalah metode komunikasi Situation, Background, Assesment, Recommendation (SBAR), yang menggunakan alat terstruktur untuk mencapai keterampilan berfikir kritis dan menghemat waktu. Namun, masih sedikit yang diketahui dari efektifitas dalam pengaturan tentang hal ini. Penggunaan komunikasi SBAR sangat membantu dalam pelaporan kondisi pasien oleh perawat terhadap tenaga kesehatan lainnya sehingga dapat meningkatkan angka keselamatan pasien. Komunikasi yang efektif khususnya komunikasi dengan metode SBAR kurang disadari oleh perawat ruang rawat inap Rumah Sakit Siloam Bali guna meningkatkan keselamatan pasien (patient safety). Tujuan: untuk mengetahui bagaimana gambaran pelakasanaan metode komunikasi SBAR di ruang rawat inap lantai 5 Rumah Sakit Sioam Bali. Metode: menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif dengan metode observasi. Instrument penelitian yang digunakan dalam bentuk observasi checklist(√). Populasi: seluruh perawat ruang rawat inap lantai 5 yang berjumlah 35 orang. Sampling: penelitian menggunakan total sampling. Hasil penelitian: menunjukan pada pelaksanaan komponen komunikasi SBAR sebanyak 6 perawat (17%) dan 29 perawat (83%) tidak melakukan komunikasi SBAR. Berdasarkan hasil temuan diatas disarankan perawat Rumah Sakit Siloam Bali bisa mendapatkan pelatihan dan simulasi/roleplay pelaksanaan komunikasi SBAR guna meningkatkan kompetensi dalam berkomunikasi efektif dan meningkatkan keselamatan pasien (patient safety).
