Abstract

Perancangan tugas akhir ini akan mengadaptasi novel Bumi oleh Tere Liye sebagai motion comic, untuk mengenali kepada masyarakat bahwa penulis Indonesia dapat membuat cerita bergenre fiksi-fantasi dengan ciri khasnya sendiri. Motion comic ini akan berpusat kepada visual panelling, layout, warna, dengan penggabungan elemen-elemen Batik Indonesia. Teori-teori utama yang digunakan adalah teori warna, dua belas prinsip animasi, time-framing, layout rhetoric, dan panel transition. Metode Perancangan termasuk melakukan wawancara dengan seseorang yang sudah mahir dalam bidang motion comic. Penelitian studi kasus juga dilakukan dengan menganalisis motion comic. Kemudian ada analisis konten dan konteks latar belakang novel, dan juga sasaran pembaca proyek ini. Visual komik ini menggunakan inspirasi dari motif-motif Batik, dibantu dengan kata kunci heartwarming dan celestial. Dari tugas akhir ini, didapatkan sebuah wawasan baru mengenai motion comic, dan keunggulannya yang berbeda dengan komik tradisional. Penggabungan komik tradisional dengan animasi menjadi salah satu aspek yang unik dalam motion comic. / This final project will adapt the novel Bumi by Tere Liye into a motion comic, to share with the readers that Indonesian writers are able to make a unique fiction-fantasy story. This motion comic will center around visual panelling, layout, colors, and the use of Indonesian Batik elements. The main theories used are color theory, twelve principles of animation, time-framing, layout rhetoric, and panel transition. The design methods used include doing an interview with an expert in the field of motion comics. A study case is also done where a motion comic is analyzed deeply. Then there is content and context analysis of the novel, and also the target audience of this project. Visually, this comic will use inspiration from Batik patterns and motifs, with the help of the keywords ‘heartwarming’ and ‘celestial’. This final project gave new insight in the many advantages the motion comic has compared to traditional comics. The merging of traditional comics and animation is also one of the most unique aspects of a motion comic.
