Abstract

The patient missidentification is considered as the root of the other patient safety errors. Security system implements at least two identification data could reduce a patient missidentification, but that error can not be erased because it is vulnerable to human error. The use of biometric identification technology has a potential to become a solution to press the outpatient missidentification number in hospital. Outpatient services is one of the entrance into the hospital services with the most number of visits .It is important to make sure that the outpatient department provides optimal services. This literature research is to aims to review the usage description of biometric identification technology in outpatients at hospital from the various sources of article. This research is using thematic analysis: simplified approach method. The database used is EBSCO and PubMed. The results of six articles found, obtained themes: finger vein, iris recognition, fingerprint. The results of this study are expected to be a source for conducting empirical research on the use of biometric identification technology in outpatient in hospital / Kesalahan identifikasi pasien dinilai menjadi akar dari berbagai permasalahan keselamatan pasien. Sistem keamanan yang menerapkan minimal dua data dapat mengurangi kesalahan identifikasi pasien, namun kesalahan tersebut tidak dapat dihilangkan, karena rentan dengan human error. Penggunaan teknologi identifikasi biometrik dapat menjadi solusi untuk menekan kejadian kesalahan identifikasi pasien rawat jalan di rumah sakit. Pelayanan rawat jalan merupakan salah satu pintu masuk pelayanan rumah sakit dengan jumlah kunjungan terbanyak. Penting untuk memastikan bahwa departemen rawat jalan menyediakan pelayanan yang optimal. Tujuan kajian literatur ini untuk meninjau gambaran penggunaan teknologi identifikasi biometrik pada pasien rawat jalan di rumah sakit dari berbagai sumber artikel. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisa tematik dengan metode pendekatan sederhana. Database yang digunakan adalah EBSCO dan PubMed. Dari enam artikel yang dikaji, didapatkan tema: finger vein, iris recognition, fingerprint. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi sumber untuk melakukan penelitian empiris mengenai penggunaan teknologi identifikasi biometrik pada pasien rawat jalan di rumah sakit.
