Abstract

Background : Siloam Hospitals Manado began applying the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) system in 2014 adopted from Royal College of PhysiciansNational Health Service 2012. The National Early Warning Score (NEWS) quality standard at Siloam Hospitals Manado is 80%. Every month an audit or monitoring NEWS by an auditor in every nurse station. NEWS audit results conducted in March-May found errors in scoring, especially in the integrated note sheet of patients. Based on the above phenomenon, researchers interested to know how the application of National Early Warning Score system by nurses in the 5th floor inpatient ward Siloam Hospitals Manado. The purpose of this research is to know the description of National Early Warning Score (NEWS) system implementation by the nurses in the 5th floor inpatient ward of Siloam Hospitals Manado. Study methods : This research uses quantitative method with descriptive design that aimed to know the description about nurses compliance level in applying National Early Warning Score system at 5th floor inpatient ward of Siloam Hospitals Manado. Researcher uses the observation sheet as a research instrument and using Guttman scale with median 9,00. The population of nurses in nurse station 51, 53 and 54 Siloam Hospitals Manado is 30 peoples and the samples used is total sampling. Data analysis : used in this research is univariate analysis in which results be presented in a table containing the median. Categorical data will be presented in a frequency distribution table and percentages. Result : The results show about 21 (70%) respondents are applyed NEWS system. Suggestions : Suggestion for further research is to see what is the factors that cause nurses not apply NEWS system / Latar Belakang : Siloam Hospitals Manado mulai menerapkan sistem National Early Warning Score (NEWS) pada tahun 2014 yang diadopsi dari Royal College of Physicians-National Health Service tahun 2012. Standar capaian mutu National Early Warning Score (NEWS) di Siloam Hospitals Manado adalah 80%. Setiap bulan dilakukan audit atau monitoring NEWS oleh seorang auditor disetiap nurse station. Hasil audit NEWS yang dilakukan pada bulan Maret-Mei ditemukan kesalahan dalam skoring terutama di lembar integrated note pasien. Berdasarkan fenomena diatas, peneliti tertarik untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan sistem National Early Warning Score oleh perawat di ruang rawat inap lantai 5 Siloam Hospitals Manado. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui gambaran penerapan sistem National Early Warning Score (NEWS) oleh perawat di ruang rawat inap lantai 5 Siloam Hospitals Manado. Metode Penelitian : Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain deskriptif bertujuan mengetahui gambaran tentang penerapan sistem National Early Warning Score oleh perawat di ruang rawat inap lantai 5 Siloam Hospitals Manado. Peneliti menggunakan lembar observasi sebagai instrumen penelitian dan menggunakan skala guttman dengan median 9,00. Populasi perawat di nurse station 51, 53 dan 54 Siloam Hospitals Manado berjumlah 30 orang dan sampel yang digunakan total sampling. Analisa data : yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisa univariat yang mana hasil data numerik disajikan dalam tabel yang berisi median. Data kategorik disajikan dalam bentuk tabel distribusi frekuensi dan presentase. Hasil penelitian : didapatkan sebanyak 21 (70%) responden yang menerapkan sistem NEWS. Saran : untuk penelitian selanjutnya adalah perlu adanya penelitian lebih lanjut untuk melihat faktor – faktor apa saja yang menyebabkan perawat tidak menerapkan NEWS.
