Abstract

Background: In-patients in the hospital experience nosocomial infections at 1.4 million infections every year which is caused by lack of compliance of nurses to do hand hygiene. One of the behaviors for preventing the occurrence of nosocomial infection is by applying hand hygiene. WHO (2009) explains that a strategy for prevention of nosocomial infections can be done by applying the five moments of hand washing by the nurses. Research Objective: The research is aimed at idntiying the nurses’ level of compliance to the implementation of five moments in hand hygiene at Siloam Dhirga Surya. Method: This study used descriptive quantitative design using univariate analysis with cross-sectional approach. The study also used the instrument of a questionnaire with Guttman scale, with the highest score of Yes + 1, and No = 0. The sampling technique used is total sampling of 48 respondents. The study has received approval from research ethical team of Faculty of Nursing, UPH. Results: Results: The study revealed that 22 respondents (45.8%) showed obedient to apply the five moments of hand hygiene, and 26 respondents (54.2%) didn’t show obedient to apply the five moments of hand hygiene. Conclusion: The majority of nurses at Siloam Dhirga Surya Hospital is obedient to do the five moments of hand hygiene and 26 respondents (54.2%) are not obedient to do the five moments of hand hygiene. Recommendations: The researcher recommends medical professionals to improve the quality of service while at the same time paying attention to patient safety through the implementation of the five moments. In addition, medical professionals are recommended to assist patients and families of patients to maintain healthy life style and to prevent infection / Latar Belakang: Pasien rawat inap di rumah sakit mengalami infeksi nosokomial sebesar 1.4 juta infeksi setiap tahunnya yang disebabkan kurangnya kepatuhan perawat melakukan cuci tangan. Salah satu perilaku untuk mencegah terjadinya infeksi nosokomial adalah dengan melakukan cuci tangan. WHO (2009), merumuskan strategi pencegahan infeksi nosokomial dengan menerapkan five moments cuci tangan perawat. Tujuan Penelitian: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi gambaran tingkat kepatuhan perawat melakukan five moments hand hygiene di Rumah Sakit Siloam Dhirga Surya. Metode Penelitian: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dan analisis univariat dengan pendekatan cross-sectional study. Menggunakan kuesioner dengan metode Scala Guttman dengan skor tertinggi diberi skor “Ya” =1, Tidak “0”. Teknik total sampling digunakan dalam pengambilan sampel. Sampel sebanyak 48 responden berpatisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Telah melalui uji etik RCTC FoN. Hasil penelitian setelah diolah dan dianalisis didapatkan hasil responden dengan kepatuhan 22 responden (45,8%), dan tidak patuh 26 responden (54,2%). Kesimpulan yaitu mayoritas perawat di Rumah Sakit Siloam Dhirga Surya adalah tidak patuh melakukan five moments hand hygiene 26 responden (54,2%). Saran: Peneliti menyarankan agar tenaga kesehatan meningkatkan pelayanan kesehatan serta menjaga keselamatan pasien melalui five moments serta mendukung pasien dan keluarga agar pasien dan keluarga dapat mempertahankan pola hidup sehat serta mampu melakukan pencegahan infeksi nosokomial.
