Abstract

Konversi lahan pertanian menjadi lahan non-pertanian, khususnya sawah, terus meningkat tiap tahunnya. Akibatnya, lahan-lahan sawah yang digunakan untuk memproduksi salah satu makanan pokok masyarakat Indonesia berupa beras, semakin menurun. Penurunan jumlah luas lahan sawah ini merupakan salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan penyusutan stok beras, khususnya pada daerah-daerah dengan tingkat konversi lahan tinggi, yang menyebabkan daerah-daerah tersebut membutuhkan pasokan padi dan beras dari daerah lain yang jauh sehingga harga beras menjadi lebih mahal. Melihat kondisi ini, teori urban agriculture dapat di berlakukan agar produksi bahan pangan tidak menurun mengikuti penurunan luas lahan. Secara arsitektural, teori ini dapat diterapkan pada perancangan sistem pertanian vertikal yang dapat menghasilkan hasil produksi lebih banyak dalam satu luas lahan yang sama dengan sistem pertanian konvensional. Teori ini dapat diterapkan pada residual space di Jalan Diponegoro, Kabupaten Labuhan Batu Selatan yang memiliki tingkat konversi lahan sawah tinggi guna meningkatkan nilai dari ruang tersebut dan membuatnya kembali produktif. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode pengumpulan data melalui studi literatur terkait dengan sistem pertanian modern akuaponik, pemanfaatan residual spaces dan sistem modular serta analisis studi preseden yang terkait dengan pertanian vertikal pada residual space. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis probabilitas penggunaan residual space sebagai lokasi pertanian serta elemen-elemen arsitektur yang dapat mendukung penurunan harga dan kenaikan kualitas bahan makanan sehingga menciptakan suatu sistem produksi makanan pusat yang terintegrasi. Sehingga pada akhirnya, residual space pada ruang kota kembali produktif sebagai substitusi lahan pertanian yang terkonversi./ The conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural land, especially paddy fields, continues to increase every year. As a result, rice fields are used to produce one of the staple foods of Indonesian in the form of rice, is decreasing. The decrease of paddy fields had been one of the factors that causes the depreciation of rice stocks, especially in areas with high land conversion rates, which had caused these areas to require supplies of rice from other distant areas, therefore that the price of rice becomes more expensive. Seeing this condition, the theory of urban agriculture had been applied so that food production does not decrease following the decline in land area. Architecturally, this theory had been applied to the design of vertical farming systems that produced more yields in the same area of land as conventional farming systems. Moreover, this theory been applied to residual spaces on Diponegoro Street, South Labuhan Batu regency which has a high conversion rate of paddy fields in order to increase the value of the space and make it productive again. The research was conducted using data collection methods through literature studies related to modern aquaponic agricultural systems, utilization of residual spaces and modular systems as well as analysis of precedent studies related to vertical farming in residual spaces. This study aims to analyze the probability of land use in urban space as a location for agriculture as well as architectural elements that can support price reductions and increase in the quality of foodstuffs to create an integrated central food production system. So that in the end, the remaining residual space in the city returns to be productive as a substitute for converted agricultural land.
