Abstract

This research is driven by the desire of the author to create a gesture based human interface device to replace regular mouse completely named The Conductor. This research is limited to a computer input device that can do every mouse functions, with 2 additional funcions, windows+tab and backspace. The Conductor consists of a hand sensors device and an interface device that connects to a computer. This hand sensor device is equipped with flex sensors, inertial measurement unit (IMU), Arduino Pro Micro microcontroller module, bluetooth module HC-05, and a rechargeable battery via USB connection. The interface device consist of a microcontroller and a bluetooth module. This device will continuously read user’s hand and fingers movement and the reading will be fed into the microcontroller module. The microcontroller module will process the data and then send it wirelessly via bluetooth module to the interface device. Bluetooth module on the receiver device will receive the data and the microcontroller will read and send a mouse function based on the reading. Flex sensors of 2,2 inch in the fingers show a resistance change ranging from 22-110 kΩ when undergo some bending. The flex sensor is used with a voltage divider circuit so the resistance change can be converted into voltage change which can be read by the microcontroller. In moving the cursor, every cm of hand movement will move the cursor as far as 19-22 pixels for a horizontal movement, and 26-28 pixels for a vertical movement. The device successfully executes every gesture as an input with a high percentage, with more than 88% success rate. The Conductor main device has more than 30 hours’ usage time, for charging time around 55 minutes. / Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keinginan untuk membuat sebuah perangkat input komputer berbasis gerakan untuk menggantikan mouse sepenuhnya yang diberi nama The Conductor. Penelitian ini dibatasi pada perangkat input komputer yang dapat melakukan semua fungsi mouse, dengan tambahan dua fungsi tambahan yaitu windows+tab dan backspace. The Conductor terdiri atas 2 perangkat yakni perangkat sensor yang dipakai di tangan dan perangkat interface yang terhubung dengan komputer. Pada perangkat sensor tangan terpasang flex sensor, inertial measurement unit (IMU), mikrokontroler Arduino Pro Micro, modul bluetooth HC- 05, dan baterai yang dapat diisi ulang melalui koneksi USB. Perangkat interface terdiri atas modul mikrokontroler dan modul bluetooth. Perangkat tangan akan terus membaca keadaan jari dan pergerakan tangan pengguna, lalu hasil bacaan tersebut akan diolah oleh modul mikrokontroler. Modul mikrokontroler akan memproses data tersebut dan mengirimkannya melalui modul bluetooth menuju perangkat interface. Data diterima oleh modul bluetooth HC-05 pada perangkat interface dan mikrokontroler akan mengubah data menjadi fungsi mouse. Flex sensor 2,2 inci yang digunakan pada perangkat mengalami perubahan nilai resistansi mulai 22-110 kΩ saat mengalami tekukan. Flex sensor disusun dalam rangkaian pembagi tegangan sehingga perubahan resistansi dapat diubah menjadi perubahan tegangan yang dapat dibaca oleh mikrokontroler. Dalam menggerakkan kursor, setiap 1 cm gerakan yang dilakukan oleh tangan, akan menggerakkan kursor sejauh 19-22 piksel untuk gerakan horizontal, dan 26-28 piksel untuk gerakan vertikal. Perangkat berhasil menjalankan setiap perintah gerakan dengan persentasi keberhasilan lebih dari 88%. Perangkat utama The Conductor dapat digunakan selama lebih dari 30 jam dengan pengisian baterai selama kurang lebih 55 menit.
