Abstract

MiniBTS is a 2G GSM BTS that can operate independently and standalone. The components of MiniBTS are BladeRF that works as an SDR with specification of working frequency range 300 MHz – 3.8 GHz in full duplex mode, Raspberry Pi 3 as a processor, YateBTS software and GSM repeater as a power amplifier. GSM repeater that is used by MiniBTS can amplify BladeRF’s power output around 41 dB, so the MiniBTS has the ability to transmit in range around 70 meter. MiniBTS can be controlled remotely so the troubleshooting and configuring can be performed easily. The examination of MiniBTS’s performance are conducted in a place without 2G GSM signal, so the connection between MS and MiniBTS will be stable. Beside as MiniBTS, BladeRF can work as spectrum analyzer. The evaluation shows that the calling and SMS performance through MiniBTS are 50% and 85%, respectively. Although it is worse than conventional BTS that maintain its performance 99.99%. Nevertheless the MiniBTS is much cheaper and it can make an adhoc network. / MiniBTS yang dibuat adalah BTS 2G GSM yang memiliki kemampuan terbatas namun dapat beroperasi secara independen dan memiliki sifat standalone. Komponen-komponen yang dibutuhkan untuk merakit MiniBTS adalah BladeRF sebagai SDR dengan spesifikasi jangkauan frekuensi 300 MHz – 3.8 GHz dan bersifat full duplex, Raspberry Pi 3 sebagai processor, perangkat lunak YateBTS dan GSM repeater sebagai power amplifier. GSM repeater dapat memperkuat power output BladeRF sampai sekitar 41 dB, sehingga MiniBTS memiliki kemampuan transmisi hingga 70 meter. MiniBTS dapat dikendalikan secara jarak jauh untuk kemudahan troubleshooting dan konfigurasinya. Pengujian performa MiniBTS dilakukan di lingkungan dimana sinyal operator lain tidak menginterferensi sehingga koneksi MS dengan MiniBTS lebih stabil. Selain berfungsi sebagai MiniBTS, BladeRF dapat dioperasikan sebagai Spectrum analyzer. Performa layanan suara dan SMS masing masingnya sekitar 50% dan 85%. Walaupun tidak sebaik performa BTS konvensional yang menjaga kualitas hingga 99,99%, namun MiniBTS memiliki harga jauh lebih murah dan dapat membuat jaringan secara adhoc.
