Abstract

Latar Belakang: Pada era globalisasi, terjadi peningkatan dari konsumsi makanan yang tinggi akan gula. Di Indonesia juga mengalami peningkatan konsumsi gula per kapita dari tahun ke tahun. Padahal konsumsi gula yang berlebihan dapat menyebabkan berbagai penyakit kronis. Salah satu penyebab peningkatan dari asupan gula adalah stres. Oleh karena itu, muncul keinginan untuk mencari hubungan antara tingkat stres dengan asupan gula, terutama terhadap dewasa muda berusia 18-24 tahun sebagai mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan antara tingkat stres dengan asupan gula pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran (FK) Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH). Metodologi: Penelitian ini menggunakan studi potong lintang atau cross-sectional pada minimal 102 sampel mahasiswa FK UPH sesuai kriteria inklusi secara non-probabilitas sampel convenience. Pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) dan Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Hasil Analisa Data: Data didapatkan dari 104 responden yang telah melewati proses eksklusi. Data diolah menggunakan Mann-U Whitney. Penelitian ini menunjukan menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang tidak signifikan antara tingkat stres dengan asupan gula (tingkat konsumsi dan frekuensi), dengan p-value masing-masing 0,622 dan 0,678 (> 0,05). Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara tingkat stress dengan asupan gula pada mahasiswa FK UPH. Kata kunci: Tingkat stres, Asupan gula, Mahasiswa FK UPH./Background: In the era of globalization, there is an increased consumption for foods with high sugar value. Indonesia had gone through increased consumption of sugar per capita from years to years. Whereas over consumption of sugar can lead to various chronic diseases. One of the reasons for increased sugar consumption is stress. Therefore, there is an urge to find the relationship between stress level with sugar consumption, especially in 18-24 years old young adults as medical students. Objection: To know the relationship between stress level with sugar consumption in medical students of Pelita Harapan University (UPH). Methodology: Study design using cross-sectional on minimum of 102 samples of medical students of UPH based on inclusion criteria using non-probability convenience sample. Data is collected using Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) questionnaire and Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Result: Data is collected from 104 respondent who already passed through exclusion process. The data was analyzed using Mann-U Whitney. This research shows no significance relationship between stress level with sugar consumption (consumption level and frequency), with each p-value of 0.622 and 0.678 (> 0.05). Conclusion: There is no significance relationship between stress level with sugar sugar consumption in medical students of UPH. Keywords: Stress level, Sugar consumption, Medical students of UPH.
