Abstract

Dewasa ini, perkembangan teknologi plug-in atau VST sudah membuat manusia bekerja menjadi lebih praktis dalam membuat sebuah karya seni musik hanya dengan menggunakan perangkat keras berupa laptop. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan bunyi upright piano yang dimiliki oleh 5 jenis VST berbeda yaitu Addictive Keys, Logic Pro Piano, Kontakt The Giant, Kontakt 8Dio1901, dan Arturia dengan cara melakukan pembuatan sampel berupa lagu karya dari Yiruma yang berjudul A River Flows In You. Dengan cara metode kualitatif yang dilakukan dengan cara penyebaran kuesioner kepada 33 responden yg terdiri dari 15 responden ahli dan 18 responden non ahli. Serta wawancara dengan 5 responden ahli dan 2 responden non ahli. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa secara statistik, tidak ada hubungannya karakter bunyi Tebal, Tipis, Nyaring, Cempreng yang dihasilkan oleh setiap VST dengan preferensi pemilihan VST. Adapun preferensi subjektif pemilihan VST terlepas data statistik bagi para responden adalah 8Dio1991. VST Addictive Keys mempunyai hasil yang realistis dan nonrealistis.
