Abstract

Background: Transition of education from High School to Higher Education, especially in nursing education, cause challenges and different responses to students according to their respective characters. Individual response to survive, process to and face the challenges is called resilience. It is also as an adaptation mechanism to survive and rise from adversity. Research Objectives: To find out strategies for increasing resilience in nursing education. Research Methods: This study applied a literature review with a simplified approach, using a Critical Appraisal Skills Programme as the critical appraisal tool. Data collection was used some databases such as Elsevier, Indonesian National Library, PubMed, EBSCOhost, and ProQuest with boolean operators "AND" and "OR". Results: From 11 articles produced two major themes including internal and external strategies for increasing resilience. Internal strategy consist of four subthemes such as knowing internal potential, having motivation and commitment, creating adaptive coping mechanism, and reflection. External strategy comprised of three subthemes such as building interpersonal relationship, having social support, and support from learning environment. Recommendation: Further research is need to assess the effectiveness of the strategy for increasing resilience in nursing education.
