Abstract

Tiongkok sebagai salah satu negara berkekuatan besar yang telah lama dikenal dari aspek kekuatan ekonomi dan militer, saat ini tengah fokus untuk membangun citra nasionalnya. Tiongkok dalam hal ini hendak membangun citra nasionalnya ke arah yang positif untuk dapat terus mempertahankan identitasnya sebagai negara besar sekaligus dapat dianggap sebagai contoh di dunia internasional. Salah satu medium yang digunakan dalam pembangunan citra tersebut adalah melalui perfilman. Dalam menganalisis upaya Tiongkok dalam membangun citra nasionalnya, teori Konstruktivisme menjadi perspektif teoritis yang digunakan karena menekankan kepada adanya upaya konstruksi nilai, gagasan dan identitas di tataran global. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dan deskriptif. Data yang disajikan diperoleh dari sumber data sekunder yaitu melalui studi kepustakaan. Teknik pengolahan data dan analisis data yang dipilih adalah teknik analisis tematik dengan pemaparan deskriptif dan ekplanatif yang telah melalui proses reduksi data dan disajikan dengan cermat dan mendalam. Terdapat tiga hasil dari penelitian ini; Pertama, proses pembangunan citra nasional Tiongkok belum berhasil dilakukan. Kedua, Tiongkok masih perlu banyak belajar dalam membangun industri perfilmannya dari negara lain. Ketiga, Tiongkok perlu berusaha lebih keras dan lebih nyata dalam memperbaiki dan membangun citra nasionalnya di tataran global. / China as one of the well-known strongest countries in terms of economic and military power is trying to put its focus on constructing its national image. China is trying to construct its national image positively so that it can keep its identity as a great power and as an example for the international world. One of the media used is the film industry. In analysing China’s effort to construct its national image, Constructivism is the appropriate theoretical perspective because it emphasizes on the effort to construct values, ideas, and identities in the global realm. This research uses study case and descriptive methods. Data provided in this research are collected from the secondary data source, namely the literature study. The data processing and data analysing technique used in this research is the thematic analysis with descriptive and explanative explanations that have passed the reduction data process. It also presented carefully and extensively. There are three results of this research; First, China’s national image construction process is not successful yet. Second, China needs to learn more things in terms of constructing its film industry from other countries. Third, China needs to work harder and put more concrete effort to fix and construct its national image in the global realm.
