Abstract

Human resources are the key to success especially for a service company such as in the hospitality industry. Based on the interview and finding, there are negative comments that Hotel Grand Central Medan employees are not performing professionally. Therefore, the author aims to understand the relationship between reward and employee performance. This research is a quantitative research conducted at Hotel Grand Central Medan. This research paper will be using reward as the independent variable and the dependent variable is employee performance. For the data collection methods, the author uses primary and secondary data. This research is using a census sampling. The author distributed questionnaires to 35 respondents, which are Hotel Grand Central Medan’s employees. The result of this research is that Ha is accepted, which means that reward has an effect towards employee performance at Hotel Grand Central Medan. The result shows that the effect of the reward towards employee performance is 37%, the remaining 63% may come from other factors that are not discussed in this research. Based on this study, the author suggests Hotel Grand Central Medan to pay attention to the reward system provided to the employees, such as the bonus given, for the employees to improve their performance / Sumber daya manusia merupakan kunci sukses terutama bagi perusahaan jasa seperti industri perhotelan. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dan penelitian, terdapat beberapa komentar negatif yang mengatakan bahwa karyawan Hotel Grand Central Medan tidak bekerja secara profesional. Oleh harena itu, penulis bermaksud untuk memperlajari hubungan penghargaan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang dilakukan di Hotel Grand Central Medan. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan penghargaan sebagai variabel independen dan variabel dependennya adalah kinerja karyawan. Untuk metode pengumpulan data, penulis menggunakan data primer dan sekunder. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel sensus. Penulis menyebarkan kuesioner kepada 35 responden yang merupakan karyawan Hotel Grand Central Medan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Ha diterima yang artinya penghargaan berpengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan pada Hotel Grand Central Medan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penghargaan berpengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan sebesar 37%, sisanya 63% mungkin berasal dari faktor lain yang tidak dibahas dalam penelitian ini. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, penulis menyarankan Hotel Grand Central Medan untuk memperhatikan sistem penghargaan yang diberikan kepada karyawan, seperti bonus yang diberikan, bagi karyawan untuk meningkatkan kinerjanya.
