Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki bagaimana kegiatan menanam hidroponik telah mengembangkan rasa tanggung jawab dan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan pada anak usia sepuluh hingga 11 tahun, dan alasan utama mengapa Sekolah ABC Tangerang menciptakan kegiatan tersebut. Peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan desain evaluasi program. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 15 siswa kelas V, Guru Mata Pelajaran, Kepala Subjek, dan Kepala Sekolah dari Sekolah ABC Tangerang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik wawancara dan survei, dengan dukungan data sekunder seperti dokumen tertulis dan video yang dipublikasikan. Analisis data dilakukan dengan direct interpretation setelah menampilkan dan meringkas data yang terkumpul. Validasi data dilakukan melalui source triangulation. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan penanaman hidroponik tersebut diciptakan sebagai strategi untuk menggabung pembelajaran akademik dan afektif Sekolah ABC Tangerang untuk mewujudkan salah satu visi sekolah mereka, yaitu “Nurture Exemplary Character”. Diyakini bahwa para siswa mampu mengembangkan rasa tanggung jawab dan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan mereka khususnya melalui penanaman tanaman dengan metodi hidroponik, merawat hidroponiknya, dan menjaga tanaman mereka agar tetap hidup. Dalam proses analisis, ditemukan bahwa melalui kegiatan hidroponik, para siswa merasa bahwa mereka mampu mengembangkan rasa tanggung jawab mereka melalui ketekunan dan disiplin dalam merawat tanamannya. Namun karena usia mereka yang masih muda (sepuluh hingga 11 tahun), mereka masih membutuhkan bimbingan dan kepastian saat mengambil keputusan. / This research aimed to investigate how partaking in a school activity of planting hydroponics was believed to help improve the sense of responsibility and decision making skills of children aged 10 to 11 years old, and the rationale behind why ABC Elementary School Tangerang created the activity in the first place. The researcher used a qualitative research method, with program evaluation design. The research subjects were Grade V Elementary students at ABC Elementary School Tangerang, and the Subject Teacher, Subject Head, and Principal also participated in this research. Data was collected through techniques such as interviews and surveys, with support from secondary data such as written documentation and published videos. The data analysis was done using direct interpretation after displaying and summarizing the data collected, and data validation was done through the application of source triangulation. The results of this research showed that the activity was created as a strategy to combine the academic and affective learning at ABC Elementary School Tangerang in order to realize one of the school’s visions which is to “Nurture Exemplary Character”. Through the activity, it was believed that the students were able to improve their sense of responsibility and decision making skills specifically through growing their plants using the hydroponic method, taking care of their hydroponics and keeping them alive. From deeper analysis, it was believed that the students were able to improve their sense of responsibility in terms of being perseverant and self-disciplined in caring for their plants, but as ten to 11 year old, they still needed guidance and reassurance when making decisions effectively.
