Abstract

Kolesterol merupakan suatu lemak jenuh yang berada di dalam darah, di mana jika kadar kolesterol telah melewati batas normal maka disebut sebagai “Hiperkolesterolemia”. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kandungan senyawa apa saja yang terdapat dalam ekstrak etanol 70% daun mimba (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) dalam menurunkan kadar kolesterol mencit jantan (Mus musculus). Penapisan fitokimia yang dilakukan berdasarkan eksperimen, selain itu penelitian ini juga menggunakan studi literatur. Kandungan senyawa yang berada di dalam ekstrak etanol 70% daun mimba adalah alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin, kuinon, steroid dan fenol. Berdasarkan studi literatur yang dilakukan dapat dilihat bahwa senyawa yang dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol yaitu flavonoid, saponin dan alkaloid, di mana ketiga senyawa tersebut berada di dalam ekstrak daun mimba, sehingga daun mimba memiliki potensi untuk menurunkan kadar kolesterol. / Cholesterol is a saturated fat that is in the blood, where if cholesterol levels have exceeded normal limits, then it is referred to as "Hypercholesterolemia". This study was conducted to find out the content of any compounds contained in ethanol extract 70% neem leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) in lowering cholesterol levels mencit male (Musmusculus). Phytochemical screening conducted based on experiments, in addition to this study also uses literature studies. The content of compounds contained in ethanol extract 70% neem leaves are alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, quinine, steroids, and phenols. Based on the literature studies conducted can be seen that compounds that can lower cholesterol levels are flavonoids, saponins and alkaloids, where the three compounds are in the extract of neem leaves, so that the neem leaves have the potential to lower cholesterol levels.
