Abstract

The development of information technology has a major impact on the world of health, one of which is the emergence of telepharmacyl services. The reduced direct interaction between patients and pharmacists in telepharmacy services can increase security risks in the form of drug-related problems (DRP). The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence of DRP in patients using telepharmacy services and their types and frequencies. This research was conducted retrospectively using telepharmacy prescription data from May – July 2020 with probability sampling technique and stratified random sampling method. The DRP category follows the PCNE Classification for Drug Related Problems V9.00. Of the 92 prescriptions studied, 52 DRP were recorded. DRP in the problem category include not maximal drug effect (23 cases, 44.23%); cost effectiveness of treatment (11 cases, 21.15%); symptoms or indications that were not treated (7 cases, 13.46%) while in the cause category included inappropriate combinations (14 cases, 26.92%) patients used fewer drugs (13 cases, 25%) duplication of drugs (5 cases , 9.26%) drug was not available (5 cases, 9.26%). Of the DRP found, 47 cases (90.38%) had not been intervened by the prescribing physician. The conclusion of this study is that there are still many DRP from telepharmacy prescriptions that have not been monitored by pharmacists to ensure safe, effective and efficient drug therapy
