Abstract

Aktivitas fisik mahasiswa FK UPH selama pandemi COVID-19 mayoritas tergolong sedang sebanyak 56 responden (43,1%) dan IMT mahasiswa FK UPH selama pandemi COVID-19 mayoritas tergolong pre-obesitas & obesitas sebanyak 62 responden (47,7%). The Relation between Physical Activity and Body Mass Index in Medical Students of Pelita Harapan University During the COVID-19 Pandemic. (xvi + 65 pages: 1 picture; 14 tables; 6 attachments) Background: Body Mass Index (BMI) is a method that can be used to assess a person's nutritional status. BMI can be influenced by several factors, one of which is physical activity. The physical activity of medical students is relatively minimal compared to students of other majors. Currently, there is a Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic worldwide since December 2019. This pandemic requires students across Indonesia to undertake distance learning which causes changes in student’s physical activity habits. Aim of Study: The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between physical activity and BMI among students of the Medical Students of Pelita Harapan University during the COVID-19 pandemic, which required students to implement online learning. Method: This study uses a cross sectional design and analyzed using unpaired comparative analytical method with a minimum subjects number of 127 respondents. Data collection will be done online by distributing google forms to respondents via LINE application. Correlations between variables will be analyzed using the chi-square parametric statistical method. The data will be tabulated and analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. Results: This study showed significant correlation between physical activity and BMI (p - value = 0,001). The physical activity of medical students of Pelita Harapan University during the COVID-19 pandemic was mostly moderate with 56 respondents (43.1%). The BMI of UPH FK students during the COVID-19 pandemic was mostly pre-obese and 62 respondents (47.7%) were obese.
