Abstract

Latar Belakang: Sleep hygiene merupakan kumpulan rekomendasi lingkungan dan perilaku tidur yang dapat membantu meningkatkan kualitas tidur. Dengan sleep hygiene yang buruk, seseorang dapat memiliki kualitas tidur yang buruk, seperti insomnia dan penyakit tidur lainnya. Insomnia merupakan salah satu gangguan tidur yang paling sering terjadi yang disebabkan oleh aktivasi berlebihan dari otak (hyperarousal) yang dapat mengganggu proses tidur. Tujuan Penelitian: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan antara sleep hygiene dengan insomnia pada mahasiswa/i pra-klinik dari Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Metodologi Penelitian: Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah potong lintang (cross sectional). Sampel adalah sebesar 138 orang, yang merupakan mahasiswa/I Fakultas Kedokteran UPH yang telah bersedia dan dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada bulan Januari 2021 - Juni 2021. Hasil penelitian diolah menggunakan program SPSS dan metode chi-square, dan uji korelasi bivariat. Hasil: Dari hasil pengolahan data penelitian ini, jumlah akhir responden sebesar 138 responden, 104 (75,4%) diantaranya memiliki sleep hygiene yang baik, dan 34 (24,6%) memiliki sleep hygiene yang kurang baik. Dari responden yang memiliki sleep hygiene baik, 9 (8,7%) memiliki insomnia, dan dari responden yang memiliki sleep hygiene kurang baik, 10 (29,4%) memiliki insomnia. Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan signifikan antara sleep hygiene dengan insomnia pada mahasiswa/i pra-klinik Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Kata Kunci: Insomnia, Sleep Hygiene, mahasiswa pre-klinik Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) /Background: Sleep hygiene can be defined as a collection of recommended environmental and behavioral practices to enhance sleep quality. Poor sleep hygiene may be associated with having poor sleep quality, which can be seen in insomnia and other sleep related problems. Insomnia is one of the most commonly reported sleep problems which is caused by hyperarousal of the brain, leading to disturbances in normal sleep pathway. Aim: This study aims to determine whether sleep hygiene has a relationship with the incidence of insomnia in pre-clinical students from the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH). Method: This study uses a cross-sectional model. Sample size of this study is 138 participants, which must be students from the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) that has agreed to be a part of the study and is chosen with purposive sampling technique. Data collection of this study was done on January of 2021 until June of 2021. Results of this study was processed with SPSS software using chi-squared method and bivariate correlation test. Results: Analysis of the data shows a total of 138 responses, 104 (75.4%) of them has good sleep hygiene, and 34 (24.6%) has poor sleep hygiene. 9 (8.7%) respondents with good sleep hygiene shows they have insomnia, and 10 (29.4%) respondents with poor sleep hygiene shows they have insomnia. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between sleep hygiene and insomnia in pre-clinical students of Universitas Pelita Harapan’s faculty of medicine.
