Abstract
Human as social beings carry out social and legal relationships that are realized through an agreement in both written and unwritten form. One of these forms of agreements can be stated in a notarial deed. In today’s world, the COVID-19 virus has changed the way we live through the implementation of restricted face-to-face interaction as the virus mutates in case of close human contact. Article 1868 of the Civil Code states that an authentic deed is a deed made before an authorized official. When faced with a governmental lockdown policy, social distancing creates a legal uncertainty in the establishments of authentic deeds. As a result, there is a need for research on “The Urgency of Implementing Cyber Notary in Making Authentic Deeds in the Covid-19 Pandemic Period”. This research uses a normative-empirical legal research methodology, specifically a non-judicial case study to reach the conclusion. The research concludes that arrangements and procedures for making an authentic deed before a Notary during the COVID-19 pandemic are currently still carried out conventionally according to the applicable laws and regulations and the implementation of the Cyber Notary concept for Notaries in making authentic deeds during the COVID-19 pandemic has yet to be carried out.
