Abstract

Tulisan ini menyajikan tahap perancangan proyek ilustrasi menggunakan media instalasi yang membahas tentang pola komunikasi antara seorang ayah dan anak lelakinya, apresiasi profesi dan kebudayaan peranakan. Proses perancangan diawali dengan identifikasi latar belakang permasalahan, pembedahan buku Baju Kerja Papa sebagai sumber konten yang hendak divisualisasikan, pengumpulan serta analisis data dari sumber buku, situs web dan pelaksanaan wawancara dengan penulis. Tahapan selanjutnya adalah tahapan perancangan yang mencakup proses mindmapping, penentuan keywords, moodboard, sketsa ilustrasi dan teknis instalasi. Hasil akhir dari perancangan proyek ini berbentuk prototipe 3d dengan konsep walking down memory lane. Setelah evaluasi dari prototipe dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa instalasi ini dapat memberikan pengalaman storytelling yang menarik dan memadai untuk jumlah audiens yang lebih besar. Akan tetapi dari segi interaksi antara audiens dengan instalasi dapat ditingkatkan lagi./This paper provides the design process of an illustration based project that uses installation as a medium that discusses the pattern of communication between a father and son, appreciation for profession and Peranakan culture. The design process begins with identifying the background of the main issue, the difference of the book Baju Kerja Papa as a source for content that will be visualized, a compilation of data analysis from the case study, websites and an interview with the writer. The next stage in the design process is through the method of mindmapping, finding keywords, moodboards, sketches and installation techniques. The final project from this design results in a 3D prototype with the concept, ‘walking down memory lane’. After an evaluation from the prototype, it is concluded that this installation can deliver a storytelling experience that is interesting and is accommodating for a large audience. However, in regards to interactivity with the audience, this installation could still be improved.
