Abstract

The foreign policy of the United States is identical with the strength of its influence and the principle of cooperation between countries. This changed when Donald Trump was elected as president of the United States and began to make policies that were different and extreme from the foreign policy of the United States in general, including his policies in the Middle East. One such policy was the decision to move the United States embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump's decision marks the United States' support for the designation of Jerusalem as Israel's official capital. This study aims to find out the factors behind the realization of Trump's policy to move the United States embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem and analyze the harmonious relationship between the United States and Israel. To produce answers from this research, the author uses Constructivism as the main theory and the premillennial concept of dispensationalism, Christian Zionism and the Israel Lobby. This research uses a qualitative approach and a collective case study method to analyze the data and the authors' findings. From the findings that the authors get, there are several factors behind the realization of this policy. The deepest factor is the harmonious relationship between the United States and Israel and the strong influence of the Jews on American politics. Another, more direct factor is the overwhelming support of Evangelical Christians, strong lobbying by American-Jewish organizations and personal support by a very influential pro-Israeli called Sheldon Adelson.
