Abstract

Singapore, a small nation with poor natural resources, has been rapidly developing since its independence in 1965 from a low-income to a high-income country through the export-led industry. Its openness in economy and trade had made them vulnerable to external disruption, as happened in 2008, when half of the countries in the world were affected by GFC, including Singapore. Singapore became the first country in East Asia to fall into recession due to the crisis. However, Singapore managed to improve its economic condition in a short period. The purpose of this research is to analyze Singapore’s strategy to enhance its economic growth in a short period, even after facing a global economic crisis. This research uses Neoliberalism theory to analyze Singapore’s strategy to overcome the economic crisis and improve its economic growth. In analyzing the data, a case study of the research method will be used to understand better the GFC that impacted Singapore. The strategy of Singapore in facing the crisis was deemed to be successful as they applied a domestic marker focused on the exchange rate-centered policy and relief aids provided by the government to stimulate the macroeconomics. / Singapura, negara kecil dengan sumber daya alam yang buruk, telah berkembang pesat sejak kemerdekaannya pada tahun 1965 dari negara berpenghasilan rendah menjadi negara berpenghasilan tinggi melalui industri ekspor. Keterbukaan dalam ekonomi dan perdagangan membuat mereka rentan terhadap gangguan eksternal, seperti yang terjadi pada 2008, ketika separuh negara di dunia terkena dampak GFC, termasuk Singapura. Singapura menjadi negara pertama di Asia Timur yang mengalami resesi akibat krisis tersebut. Namun, Singapura berhasil memperbaiki kondisi ekonominya dalam waktu singkat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis strategi Singapura untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonominya dalam waktu singkat, bahkan setelah menghadapi krisis ekonomi global. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Neoliberalisme untuk menganalisis strategi Singapura dalam mengatasi krisis ekonomi dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonominya. Dalam menganalisis data, studi kasus dari metode penelitian akan digunakan untuk lebih memahami KKG yang berdampak pada Singapura. Strategi Singapura dalam menghadapi krisis dinilai berhasil karena menerapkan penanda domestik yang berfokus pada kebijakan yang berpusat pada nilai tukar dan bantuan bantuan yang diberikan pemerintah untuk merangsang ekonomi makro.
