Abstract

The prolonged conflict that occurred between 2005-2018 accompanied by a patriarchal culture resulted in South Sudanese women as the object of discrimination by men. This research found that the peacebuilding strategies conducted by women activists at every level of actors - grassroots, middle, and top levels - brought positive and transformative impacts to society. At the top level, the South Sudan government guarantees gender equality. At the middle and lower levels, the South Sudan Society eagers to support the implementation of gender equality. In addition, the society of South Sudan gave a tremendous response to women activists' audacity to be involved in the peacebuilding process. The courage, determination, and persistence of women activists to carry out peacebuilding even amid a dangerous situation have inspired the people of South Sudan to get involved in building peace. Their fruitful accomplishments signify a good first step in the pursuit of peace in South Sudan.
