Abstract

Many sexual harassment cases have occurred throughout the years, both towards females and males. Unfortunately, many people still disregard the fact that male victims of sexual harassment exist. Through social media such as Instagram, people are able to discuss, share opinions, beliefs, and thoughts. For this reason, research is needed to see how the netizen responds towards perpetrators and male victims of sexual harassment. This research uses two different cases of sexual harassment against men, each with different responses from netizens. The first case is used to see the responses of netizens towards a male victim, while the second case is used to see the responses toward the perpetrator himself. This research uses a qualitative approach with the thematic analysis method. The data collected are from the comments of two different Instagram posts by two different news outlets. Additionally, this research uses other sources of journals, articles, researches, books, and news as supporting data. From this research, it can be proven that netizens’ responses towards perpetrators and male victims of sexual harassment are drastically different. A total of 9 themes are made to evaluate responses from both cases, with 4 themes towards the male victim and 5 themes towards the perpetrator. / Banyak kasus pelecehan seksual yang terjadi selama ini, baik terhadap perempuan maupun laki-laki. Sayangnya, masih banyak orang yang mengabaikan fakta adanya laki-laki korban pelecehan seksual. Melalui media sosial seperti Instagram, orang dapat berdiskusi dan berbagi pendapat, keyakinan, dan pemikiran mereka. Untik itu, diperlukan penelitian untuk melihat bagaimana respon netizen terhadap pelaku dan korban laki-laki pelecehan seksual. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua kasus pelecehan seksual terhadap laki-laki yang berbeda, masing-masing dengan tanggapan berbeda dari netizen. Kasus pertama digunakan untuk melihat respon netizen terhadap korban laki-laki, sedangkan kasus kedua digunakan untuk melihat respon terhadap pelaku sendiri. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis tematik. Data yang dikumpulkan berasal dari komentar dua postingan Instagram yang berbeda oleh dua outlet berita yang berbeda. Selain itu, penelitian ini menggunakan sumber lain dari jurnal, artikel, penelitian, buku, dan berita sebagai data pendukung. Dari penelitian ini dapat dibuktikan bahwa tanggapan netizen terhadap pelaku dan korban laki-laki pelecehan seksual sangat berbeda. Sebanyak 9 tema dibuat untuk mengevaluasi tanggapan dari kedua kasus tersebut, dengan 4 tema terhadap korbal laki-laki dan 5 tema terhadap pelaku.
