Abstract

Singapore is ranked first as the most developed and superior country in the Southeast Asia region due to its strategic placement on the world's trade route. Singapore's cooperative and open policy has been implemented successfully. Although Singapore is recognized for its lack of natural resources, this is not a deterrent. The amount of foreign investors who make Singapore their home base for their firm is proof of this. This has an impact on Singapore's trade as well. The banking and insurance, wholesale and retail commerce, and manufacturing sectors account for the majority of FDI investment in Singapore. Globalization has had a significant impact on worldwide trade. In the economic sector, globalization is fast advancing, allowing multinational corporations (MNCs) to enter global markets and invest foreign capital outside of their native countries. Because of the enormous number of FDI inflows, Singapore can provide access to a bigger market. The goal of this research is to figure out what techniques Singapore is employing to be able to receive substantial FDI flows without affecting commerce. The theory of liberalism was used in this study, and it was combined with the principles of investment and trade openness. This study employs a qualitative approach and employs a comparative-historical research methodology. The findings of this study show that the quantity of FDI in Singapore has an impact on the host country's exports. Investors, both corporations and individuals, are primarily motivated by a vertical FDI motive in Singapore, which attempts to increase efficiency. Singapore's investment policies and initiatives have shown to be beneficial in making the country more liberal and open.
