Abstract

Film merupakan media komunikasi yang menggunakan gambar, dialog dan aktor yang dapat menciptakan sebuah alur cerita dan menggambarkan fenomena di sehidupan sehari – hari. I, Tonya adalah sebuah film biografi yang bergenre drama, comedy dan sport yang berdurasi 120 menit. Film ini menceritakan perjalanan hidup Tonya untuk menjadi seorang atlet seluncur indah atau ice capades sekaligus membahas masalah kekerasan yang ia terima dan kesehatan mentalnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan Semiotika Roland Barthes sebagai metode analisis data, sehingga peneliti dapat mengetahui mitos yang terkandung dari pemaknaan denotasi dan konotasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 38 scene yang mengandung 5 adegan kekerasan verbal, 12 kekerasan non – verbal atau fisik, 9 kekerasan psikologis dan sisanya mengandung berbagai bentuk kekerasan dalam satu adegan. Representasi merupakan konsep pemikiran seseorang yang memaknai tanda dari orang, kejadian atau imajinasi. Representasi kekerasan dalam film I, Tonya (2017) menjelaskan bagaimana tokoh utama mengalami tindakan kekerasan dari orang terdekatnya, khususnya dari ibunya dan mantan suaminya. Dari semua bentuk kekerasan yang akan dibahas peneliti, kekerasan non – verbal atau fisik merupakan bentuk kekerasan yang paling banyak ditampilkan dalam film I, Tonya (2017). / Film is a communication medium that uses images, dialogues and actors who can create a storyline and describe phenomena in everyday life. I, Tonya is a biographical film with the genre of drama, comedy and sports with a duration of 120 minutes. This film tells the story of Tonya's life journey to become a figure skater or ice capades while also discussing the problems of violence she received and her mental health. This study uses a qualitative approach and Roland Barthes Semiotics as a method of data analysis, so that researchers can find out the myths contained in the meaning of denotation and connotation. The results showed that there were 38 scenes containing 5 scenes of verbal violence, 12 non-verbal or physical violence, 9 psychological violence and the rest containing various forms of violence in one scene. Representation is a person's thought concept that interprets signs from people, events or imaginations. The representation of violence in the film I, Tonya (2017) explains how the main character experiences acts of violence from those closest to him, especially from his mother and ex-husband. Of all the forms of violence that will be discussed by the researcher, non-verbal or physical violence is the form of violence that is most often shown in the film I, Tonya (2017).
