Abstract

Bergabungnya Indonesia dalam APEC menimbulkan berbagai pendapat dari para pengamat politik. Indonesia dalam APEC dinilai tidak memberikan keuntungan secara ekonomi bahkan Sebagian beranggapan negara berkembang seperti Indonesia digunakan sebagai sarana negara-negara industri untuk melancarkan kepentingan ekonomi mereka. Disamping itu terdapat pengamat yang optimis bahwa Indonesia mendapatkan keuntungan dengan ikut bergabung dalam APEC. Penelitian ini akan membahas mengenai kepentingan Indonesia dalam keikutsertaannya bergabung dalam APEC dan bagaimana APEC dapat meningkatkan laju pertumbuhan dan kapasitas ekonomi Indonesia. Metode penelian menggunakan metode historis, rekontruksi masa lampau yang dilakukan secara sistematis dan objektif dengan cara proses pengumpulan, mengevaluasi, verifikasi, dan sintesis dari bukti-bukti berdasarkan fakta guna mendapatkan kesimpulan yang bersifat akurat. Hasil penelitian menunjukan Indonesia dalam APEC menjalin kerjasama perdagangan dengan semua negara sesuai pedoman Luar Negeri Bebas Aktif Indonesia khususnya dengan Tiongkok dan Amerika Serikat sejak 1990-2013./The joining of Indonesia in APEC has generated various opinions from political observers. Indonesia in APEC provides economic benefits, even most developing countries such as Indonesia are used as state facilities for industries that are considered not beneficial for their economy. In addition, there are observers who are optimistic that Indonesia will benefit from joining APEC. This study will discuss Indonesia's interest in joining APEC and how APEC can increase the rate of growth and Indonesia's economic capacity. The research method uses historical methods, the reconstruction of the past which is carried out systematically and objectively by collecting, discovering, activating, and synthesizing evidence based on facts to get accurate conclusions. The results of the study show that Indonesia in APEC has established trade cooperation with all countries according to the guidelines for Indonesia's Free and Active Foreign Affairs, especially with China and the United States from 1990-2013.
