Abstract

The role of having an early relationship in the transition process is noted to be crucial for the continued resilience of students and for developing effective approaches to learning while in higher education. At UPH, every new student will join a Mentorship group under Mentoring UPH. Mentorship takes place in one year of study since the student orientation period at UPH. As a Student Service Unit, Mentoring UPH aims to shape students according to UPH's vision and mission, help students adapt, assist students in the academic process, provide life-skills guidance to students, and provide facilities for students to serve others. In achieving its goals, Mentoring through its work program holds various development activities for students who during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 were carried out online. The main activities are Mentor-Mentee Time at UPH Festival 2020, Sharing Time at GROW-Life, and Mentor-Mentee Gathering at UNITED. Referring to the crucial importance of the student transition period, an analysis of Mentoring activities was carried out using the theory of "The Five Senses of Successful Transition" as a framework for adjusting the Mentoring program in order to better support students in their first year. Based on research to class 2020 students, it can be seen that the Five Senses achievement of each Mentoring program is 4.09 for Sense of Capability, 4.10 for Sense of Connectedness, 4.04 for Sense of Purpose, 4.08 for Sense of Resourcefulness, and 4.14 for Sense of Academic Culture. The online mentoring program has reached the effective limit of "The Five Senses of Successful Transition" of main respondents with each score of 4.10 for UPH Festival 2020, 4.11 for GROW-Life, and 4.06 for UNITED. According to respondents, the online Mentoring program has been implemented effectively based on the score of the respondents who filled out the main questionnaire, which was 4.24 and the respondents who filled out the supporting questionnaires were 3.90.
