Abstract
Salah satu produk yang disediakan oleh perusahaan asuransi jiwa adalah asuransi multiple life, yaitu asuransi dengan tertanggung berjumlah dua orang atau lebih (pada umumnya pasangan suami-istri), namun uang pertanggungan (benefit) hanya dibayarkan sekali. Terdapat dua jenis asuransi ini, yaitu joint life dan last survivor. Teknik perhitungan premium, benefit, dan cadangan premium untuk produk ini tentu berbeda dari produk asuransi jiwa yang lainnya, karena pada asuransi ini, terdapat faktor dependensi antar pasangan yang perlu diperhatikan. Salah satu cara untuk memodelkan dependensi antar pasangan adalah dengan menggunakan model semi-Markov dengan 4 keadaan (state) berdasarkan status pernikahan. Skripsi ini merupakan replikasi dari penelitian Ji dan Zhou yang berjudul ”A General Semi-Markov Model for Coupled Lifetimes” dengan menggunakan data penduduk Singapura tahun 2019. Setelah parameter untuk model semi Markov ini berhasil diestimasi, dilakukan perhitungan peluang transisi, premium, dan net premium reserve untuk produk asuransi term joint life dan term last survivor dengan jangka waktu 5 dan 10 tahun, untuk pasangan dengan rentang usia 40 hingga 60 tahun. Berdasarkan perhitungan yang telah dilakukan, peluang status joint life non-aktif hampir sama dengan peluang status last survivor non-aktif, karena peluang suami/istri meninggal setelah pasangannya meninggal sangat kecil untuk rentang usia terkait. Penulis juga mendapati besar premium yang dibayarkan untuk produk asuransi dengan jangka waktu 10 tahun lebih besar dibanding produk yang sama namun dengan jangka waktu 5 tahun, serta seiring bertambahnya usia pasangan yang membeli produk asuransi, tingkat kenaikan premium untuk produk dengan jangka waktu 10 tahun ternyata lebih besar dibanding dengan produk yang sama namun dengan jangka waktu 5 tahun. Terakhir, jumlah net premium reserves yang dibutuhkan akan meningkat seiring dengan berjalannya tahun polis, namun akan menurun ketika mendekati periode akhir tahun polis. Usia pasangan saat membeli produk asuransi ini juga berpengaruh terhadap besarnya reserves yang dibutuhkan. / One of the products provided by life insurance company is multiple life insurance, which is an insurance with two or more insureds (usually married couples), but the benefit is only paid once. There are two types of this insurance, joint life and last survivor. The techniques for calculating premiums, benefits, and premium reserves for this product are certainly different from the other life insurance products, because in this insurance, there are dependency factors between couples that should be considered. One way to model dependencies between couples is to use a semi-Markov model with 4 states based on marital status. This thesis is a replication of Ji and Zhou’s research, ”A General Semi Markov Model for Coupled Lifetimes”, using Singapore population data in year 2019. After the parameters for semi-Markov model have been successfully estimated, the transition probability, premium, and net premium reserves for term joint life and term last survivor insurance products with a term of 5 and 10 years are calculated, for couples with age range from 40 to 60 years. Based on the calculations that have been made, the probability for joint life status to become inactive is almost equal to the last survivor’s, because the probability of a husband/wife dying after their spouse dies is very small for the given age range. The authors also found that the premium paid for insurance products with 10-year term is greater than the same product with 5-year term, and as the age of couples who bought the insurance products increases, the premium increase rate for products with 10-year term is higher compared to the same product but with 5-year term. Finally, the amount of net premium reserves required will increase as the policy year progresses, but will decrease as the policy year approaches the end. The couple’s age when buying these insurance products also has effects for the amount of reserves needed.
