Abstract

The purpose of this research is to create a monitoring system for electricity usage in boarding houses using Arduino microcontroller that can be accessed via internet. The system’s main purpose is to monitor and give user early warning when exceeding monthly limit kWh usage. The development of electricity usage’s monitoring system is using prototyping development methodology, modelling system with UML 2.5, such as use case diagrams, activity diagrams, class diagrams, and table relationship diagrams. This system was built with a license free open source program such as Arduino, Android Studio, PHP, MySQL, and can be accessed through web browser and Android application. Module used to make this system’s hardware are ACS712-30A to measure alternating current and ESP8266-01 to send data from Arduino to database. The result of this research shows that the monitoring system works well and is accurate in measuring the electricity usage used by the people in the boarding house, resulting in less cost needed on the installation of new electricity meter. Data sample from Arduino are stored in the database and can be accessed by using Android application or web browser in the dashboard page. In dashboard page, informations such as daily kWh usage, periodical kWh usage, remaining rent days, and monthly kWh limit can be accessed. System can also notify tenants whenever their kWh usage has excessed monthly kWh limit by sending a notification using Android push notification./ Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang sebuah sistem monitoring penggunaan listrik yang digunakan pada rumah kontrakan dengan menggunakan mikrokontroler Arduino dan dapat diakses menggunakan internet. Sistem ini bertujuan untuk memantau penggunaan listrik dan memberikan peringatan kepada pemakai dengan penggunaan listrik bulanan yang berlebih. Pengembangan sistem monitoring penggunaan listrik menggunakan metode pengembangan prototyping, pemodelan sistem menggunakan UML 2.5, yaitu use case diagram, activity diagram, class diagram, dan table relationship diagram. Sistem ini dirancang menggunakan aplikasi perancangan berbasis open source seperti Arduino IDE, Android Studio, PHP, MySQL, dan dapat diakses melalui web browser dan aplikasi Android. Modul yang digunakan untuk membangun perangkat keras sistem ini adalah sensor ACS712-30A yang digunakan untuk mengukur arus AC dan ESP8266-01 sebagai modul untuk mengirim data dari Arduino ke dalam database. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perancangan sistem monitoring penggunaan listrik menggunakan Arduino dapat memantau penggunaan listrik per kamar dengan baik dan cukup akurat sehingga pemilik kontrakan dapat menghemat biaya instalasi meteran listrik. Data yang disimpan dari Arduino ke dalam database diolah menjadi sebuah informasi dan dapat dilihat pada halaman utama yang berbentuk dashboard. Halaman dashboard dapat diakses menggunakan aplikasi Android atau web browser. Di dalam dashboard, informasi yang bisa didapatkan oleh pengguna diantara lain seperti penggunaan listrik per hari, penggunaan listrik dalam suatu periode, masa sewa kontrakan, dan limit penggunaan kWh. Penghuni kamar dengan pemakaian kWh yang berlebih dapat diberikan peringatan oleh sistem setiap bulannya apabila melewati batas bulanan menggunakan Android push notification.
