Abstract

John Dewey mengemukakan bahwa konsep pendidikan tradisional umumnya memberikan beban pada anak dan sepenuhnya mengikuti apapun yang dikatakan oleh pendidik sehingga setiap anak kurang memiliki kebebasan penuh untuk bereksplorasi materi yang diberikan oleh pendidik. Padahal menurutnya semua orang mempelajari segala sesuatu dari pengalaman karena pengalaman merupakan guru yang terbaik. Dalam memaksimalkan penerapan experiential learning, tentu perlu adanya tahapan-tahapan yang dinamankan cycle of experiential learning yang digagas oleh Kolb, sehingga anak dapat mempelajari setiap materi secara maksimal yang pada akhirnya membuat pengalaman setiap anak menjadi lebih kaya. Penulis memilih Sanggar Anak Harapan sebagai objek penelitian yang merupakan rumah perlindungan serta tempat belajar bagi anak jalanan. Sanggar Anak Harapan berlokasi di Tanah Merah, Jakarta Utara diinisiasikan oleh Leni Desinah yang sebelumnya merupakan anak jalanan dan keluar dari Tanah Merah lalu menetap di Sanggar Anak Akar selama 5 tahun. Dari sana ia merasa pendidikan sangat penting untuk mengubah karakter anak hingga memiliki keahlian tanpa harus adanya kekerasan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan partisipatori dan design thinking sebagai proses mendesain untuk mencari masalah dan potensi hingga perwujudan prototipe. Pernlitian berlangsung saat pandemi Covid-19 penulis menggunakan metode e-interview dalam keterlibatan langsung dengan user maupun expert untuk mendapat masukan yang penting pada proses perancangan./According to John Dewey if traditional education only give pressure for children and fully listening what teacher taught, so it’s not giving an opportunity for children to explore more about the subject. He said if people learned from experience and experience is the best teacher. To maximize the application of experiential learning, it needs process which is cycle of experiential learning which initiated by Kolb. It’s easily make children to learn with process and giving more learning experience. An author choose Sanggar Anak Harapan as research object. Sanggar Anak Harapan is living and learning space for every Tanah Merah, North Jakarta marjinal where’s initiated by Leni Desinah. She used to stayed on Sanggar Anak Akar for 5 years and she said if education is very important to change every children mindset and behavior to avoid from bad violence. In this research, an author use participatory and design thinking approach as design process to find problem, potency. and creating interior design prototype. Unfortunately, this research held on Covid-19 pandemic, so the author use e-interview method to involving itself with user and expert to get more important information about design process.
