Abstract

Mahasiswa-mahasiswi dikenal sebagai orang-orang yang sibuk, termasuk mahasiswa Program Studi Desain Interior Universitas Pelita Harapan. Dengan berbagai jenis kegiatan yang perlu mereka lakukan, tentunya perlu fasilitas yang mampu merespon kebutuhan-kebutuhan mereka. Menurut hasil observasi penulis, mereka paling sering bekerja di atas meja perkuliahan dan di atas meja perkuliahan ini mereka memiliki tiga aktivitas utama, yaitu menggambar, membuat maket, dan presentasi. Ketiga aktivitas ini membutuhkan tiga jenis meja yang berbeda agar bisa efektif dan efisien. Namun, tidak mungkin setiap mahasiswa menggunakan tiga meja sekaligus. Maka, dibentuklah konsep meja transformable yang mampu berubah wujud untuk merespon tiga kebutuhan fungsi berbeda. Proses pengembangan desain meja ini telah menghasilkan 14 pengembangan dan satu buah mock-up 1:1 yang dibuat dalam workshop. Efektivitas dan efisiensi meja ini diukur menggunakan teori antropometri dan uji post-test dimana mahasiswa pengguna mencoba langsung mock-up kemudian memberi komentar serta masukan. Hasilnya, ternyata desain masih jauh dari sempurna, tapi aman untuk dikatakan bahwa meja telah berfungsi dengan baik./University students are known as busy people, including Interior Design Study Program students of Pelita Harapan University. With various type of activities that they need to do, obviously, facilities that are able to respond to their needs are needed. According to writer’s observation, students are working on top of the table the most often and on top of this table they have three main activities, that is drawing, maquette making, and presentation. This three activities needs three different kind of table so they can be effective and efficient. However, it’s not feasible for every student to use three tables at once. Accordingly, Transformable Table concept that is able to transform to respond three different function requirements is formed. The development process of this table’s design has produced 14 development and a 1:1 mock-up that was built in the workshop. Effectivity and efficiency of this table has been measured using anthropometry theory and a post-test where students as the users directly tried to use the mock-up then gave comments and feedbacks. As a result, turns out the design is still far from perfect, but it’s safe to say that the table is working properly.
