Abstract

Semakin hari semakin banyak pendatang baru yang datang ke pulau Jawa. Maksud kedatangan mereka biasanya untuk mencari sumber pekerjaan, mencari ilmu pengetahuan, mengembangkan usaha atau hanya untuk sekedar liburan. Namun tidak semua masyarakat lokal yang menyambut pendatang tersebut dengan ramah. Ada pula masyarakat yang menganggap pendatang baru sebagai saingan dalam hal mencari pekerjaan, mencari prestasi dan lainnya. Oleh karena itu, terkadang pendatang baru bisa mendapatkan perlakuan tidak adil dari masyarakat. Salah satu ketidak-adilan ini terjadi pada orang-orang yang berasal dari Papua. Mereka yang datang ke pulau Jawa dengan maksud baik, justru mendapatkan perlakuan tidak adil yang disebabkan oleh adanya stigma-stigma buruk tentang orang Papua tersebut. Beberapa ketidak-adilan yang mereka dapatkan yaitu sulitnya mencari tempat tinggal, mendapatkan perkataan yang tidak baik tentang ras mereka, masih dianggap anarkis sehingga tidak ada masyarakat lokal yang mau berteman dan membantu mereka. Oleh sebab itu, melalui projek ini akan dibangun sebuah pusat kebudayaan untuk memperkenalkan tentang kebudayaan dan informasi tentang orang Papua, menjadikan tempat ini sebagai tempat untuk bersosialisasi dan interaksi antara masyarakat lokal dengan orang Papua. Pusat kebudayaan ini akan dibangun dengan pendekatan neo-vernacular. Melalui pendekatan ini akan menghasilkan sebuah bangunan pusat kebudayaan Papua dengan bentuk yang lebih modern namun tetap memiliki beberapa unsur tradisional dari budaya Papua. / More and more newcomers are coming to the island of Java. The purpose of their arrival is usually to find a source of work, seek knowledge, develop a business or just for a vacation. However, not all local people welcome the newcomers in a friendly manner. There are also people who regard newcomers as rivals in terms of looking for work, seeking achievements and others. Therefore, sometimes newcomers can get unfair treatment from the community. One of these injustices happened to people who came from Papua. Those who come to the island of Java with good intentions, actually get unfair treatment due to the existence of bad stigmas about the Papuan people. Some of the injustices they get are the difficulty of finding a place to live, getting bad words about their race, they are still considered anarchists so that no local community wants to befriend and help them. Therefore, through this project a cultural center will be built to introduce culture and information about the Papuan people, making this place a place for socializing and interaction between the local community and the Papuan people. This cultural center will be built with a neo-vernacular approach. Through this approach, it will produce a Papuan cultural center building with a more modern form but still has some traditional elements of Papuan culture.
