Abstract

Dalam budaya patriarki, perempuan ditempatkan dalam posisi yang mempunyai peranan yang sangat dibatasi secara tradisional dan ditampilkan sebagai karakter lemah, penurut dan pemalu. Film Dangal yang diangkat dari kisah nyata perjuangan perempuan yang berjuang untuk melawan budaya patriarki serta dominasi pria yang menindas di India. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat representasi feminisme tokoh Geeta dalam film Dangal. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori representasi Stuart Hall dan teori feminisme Rosemarie Putnam Tong. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes. Dari hasil penelitian ini ditemukan representasi feminisme tokoh Geeta berhasil mendobrak tradisi sosial budaya yang ada dengan berpartisipasi dan berhasil dalam bidang olahraga gulat yang masih didominasi laki-laki. / In patriarchal culture, women are placed in positions that have traditionally limited roles and are presented as weak, submissive and shy characters. Dangal is a film based on the true story of the struggle of women who struggle against patriarchal culture and oppressive male domination in India. This research was conducted to see the representation of Geeta's feminism in the Dangal film. The theory used in this research is Stuart Hall's representation theory and Rosemarie Putnam Tong's feminism theory. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method using semiotic analysis of Roland Barthes. From the results of this study, it was found that the representation of Geeta's feminism was successful in breaking the existing socio-cultural traditions by participating and succeeding in the field of wrestling, which is still dominated by men.
