Abstract

Era Globalisasi mengakibatkan Indonesia tidak mampu menjaga khazanah budaya lokalnya serta kerusakan lingkungan yang mengakibatkan hewan endemik di Indonesia telah terancam punah. Masalah ini diakibatkan karena kurangnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap lingkungan maupun budaya Indonesia. Hal ini mengakibatkan proyek akhir ini akan dibuat sebuah perancangan karakter desain dalam bentuk concept art video game. Tujuan dibuat perancangan ini adalah menghasilkan concept art video game bergenre life-simulation yang mampu menyediakan edukasi akan hewan endemik serta warisan budaya Indonesia bagi anak-anak Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam proyek akhir ini adalah metode studi pustaka dan wawancara. Studi pustaka yang dilakukan berupa riset pada beberapa buku, jurnal dan artikel ilmiah yang berhubungan dengan masalah yang sedang di analisiskan. Selanjutnya, dilakukan studi wawancara kepada penulis cerita pendek berjudul “The Traveller” yang menjadi inspirasi cerita proyek akhir ini. Visual dari karakter desain didasari oleh 9 hewan endemik dari 6 Pulau di Indonesia. Karakter tersebut didesain berdasarkan kata kunci heartwarming dan etnik kontemporer. Melalui tugas akhir ini, akan terlahir sebuah concept art video game baru yang mampu memberikan kesadaran dan menginspirasi masyarakat Indonesia akan budaya, warisan serta hewan endemik di Indonesia / The era of globalization resulted in Indonesia being unable to maintain its local cultural treasures and environmental damage that caused the extinction of endemic animals in Indonesia. This problem is caused by a lack of awareness to the environment and culture of Indonesia. Therefore, this final project will create a character design in the form of video game concept art. The purpose of this design is to produce a concept art video game life-simulation genre that can provide education of endemic animals and Indonesian cultural heritage for Indonesian children. The methods used in this final project are literature studies and interviews. Research of literature studies was obtained from several books, journals and scientific articles related to the problem being analyzed. Furthermore, an interview study was conducted with the book author of "The Traveller" which inspired the behind story concept of this final project. Visual design of the character is based on 9 endemic animals from 6 islands in Indonesia. The characters are designed based on heartwarming keywords and contemporary ethnicity. Through this final project, a new video game concept art will be born that will provide awareness and inspire Indonesian people to endemic cultures, heritage, and animals in Indonesia.
