Abstract

Film merupakan salah satu medium untuk menyampaikan sebuah cerita dan untuk mengekspresikan diri. Film drama pendek ’40 Hari Terakhir’ pun bercerita tentang proses dan perjalanan berdukanya sebuah keluarga, terutama sang suami, ketika ditinggal oleh istrinya. ’40 Hari Terakhir’ ingin menerobos prasangka bahwa terdapat cara berduka yang benar dan salah, karena proses tersebut sangatlah abstrak dan bervariasi dari setiap orang. Film ini pun berputar pada kepercayaan bahwa arwah orang yang meninggal akan tetap di bumi untuk 40 hari terakhir, yang merupakan sebuah kepercayaan yang cukup kuat di Indonesia, dan terinspirasi dari kejadian pribadi penulis. Makalah tersebut menjadi laporan sutradara dan penulis terhadap pembuatan film dari tahap perkembangan konsep, pra-produksi, produksi, hingga pasca-produksi. /Film is a medium to story tell and to express oneself. The short drama film ‘40 Hari Terakhir’ talks about the process and journey of grief in a family, especially the husband, when his wife passes away. ‘40 Hari Terakhir’ aims to break through the preconceived notion that there is a right and wrong way to grief, as its process is something that is very abstract and varies from person to person. The film revolves around the belief that the soul of the dead will roam the earth for 40 final days, which is a very rooted belief in the Indonesian culture and is inspired upon the writer’s personal experience. This thesis paper serves as the director and writer’s report of the making of the film from the stages of development, pre-production, production, and post-production.
