Abstract

Film adalah sebuah media atau karya seni yang menceritakan sebuah cerita melalui gambar dan audio visual. Film sering digunakan sebagai sarana untuk mempresentasikan sebuah budaya. Oleh karena itu dalam tugas akhir ini penulis berperan sebagai produser menguraikan teori dan laporan pembuatan film pendek dokumenter yang berjudul “The Finest Workmanship”. Film pendek dokumenter “The Finest Workmanship” mengangkat budaya batik Indonesia yaitu batik peranakan, yang tetap ada hingga saat ini dan tetap mempertahankan keunikannya sebagai batik tulis terhalus serta keasliannya yaitu batik Oey Soe Tjoen. Namun dikarenakan terhambatnya regenerasi pebatik membuat batik peranakan Oey Soe Tjoen mengalami masa kepunahan. Isi laporan ini merangkum proses merancang memproses hingga hasil akhir dari film pendek dokumenter “The Finest Workmanship”. / Film is a medium or work of art that tells a story through pictures and audio visuals. Film is often used as a means to present culture. Therefore, in this final project, the writer acts as a producer outlining theories and reports on making a short documentary film entitled "The Finest Workmanship". The documentary short film “The Finest Workmanship” highlights the Indonesian batik culture, namely the Peranakan batik, which still exists today and maintains its uniqueness as the finest hand-drawn batik and its authenticity, namely Oey Soe Tjoen. However, due to delays in the regeneration of batik, Oey Soe Tjoen's Peranakan batik has experienced a period of extinction. The contents of this report summarize the process from designing to processing to the final result of the documentary short film “The Finest Workmanship”.
