Abstract

Budaya peranakan telah menjadi bagian dalam keseharian masyarakat Indonesia, salah satunya pada cara berpakaian orang Indonesia yang identik dengan batik. Namun sedikit diketahui bahwa batik peranakan juga cukup berpengaruh di daerah pesisiran, salah satu yang masih bertahan adalah batik tulis halus legendaris Oey Soe Tjoen. Penulis menggunakan film dokumenter sebagai media penyampaian pengetahuan melalui visual dan audio, serta dari film dapat mempengaruhi cara pandang masyarakat mengenai budaya peranakan yang juga merupakan asset bangsa. Dalam merealisasikannya, penulis sebagai sutradara melakukan tahap pra produksi yaitu melakukan riset mengenai kedatangan bangsa asing salah satunya Tionghoa yang melebur dengan budaya lokal menjadi peranakan, melakukan penentuan kata kunci, kemudian penulis melakukan pemetaan bahasan untuk mengangkat batik Oey Soe Tjoen sebagai sebuah film dokumenter. Pada tahap produksi melakukan wawancara dengan peneliti dan pelaku batik, melakukan pengambilan gambar dan audio. Dan pada tahap paska produksi melakukan penyuntingan gambar dan penyusunan audio menjadi sebuah film dokumenter. Dari film dokumenter “The Finest Workmanship” diharapkan dapat membuka pandangan mengenai batik peranakan melalui perkataan setiap tokoh dan memberi pengetahuan serta meningkatkan toleransi karena batik peranakan adalah bagian dari budaya Indonesia. / Peranakan culture has been a part of Indonesian daily life, one of them is how they dress, which is identical to batik. But little is known that Peranakan batik is influential in coastal areas, and one of which still survives is the legendary Oey Soe Tjoen fine batik. The author uses documentary film as a medium to convey knowledge through visuals and audio, which can influence the public perspective on Peranakan culture, because it is also a national asset. In realizing it, the writer as the director carried out the pre-production stage. Researched the arrival of foreign nations, one of which was the Chinese culture that fused with local culture to create Peranakan culture. Determining keywords, and carried out discussion mapping to raise Oey Soe Tjoen batik as a documentary film. At the production stage, the author did interviews with researchers and batik artists, capturing visual and audio. And at the post-production stage, video editing and compiling the recorded audio into a documentary film. From the documentary film “The Finest Workmanship”, the author hope that this film able to open new perspectives about Peranakan batik through each character's words, provide knowledge and increase tolerance because Peranakan batik is a part of Indonesian culture.
