Abstract

Kata Kunci: Manajemen Kebersihan Menstruasi, Dukungan Orang Tua, Status Sosial Ekonomi Orang Tua, Pengetahuan, Remaja / Background: During menstruation, the possibility of contacting infections such as urinary tract infections (UTI) and reproductive tract infections (RTI) increases. Women are more likely get infected by a UTI by 20% - 30%. Furthermore, adolescents are more likely to get an RTI by 35 - 42% compared to other age groups. It is important that young women know the importance of menstrual hygiene management (MHM). MHM can be influenced by numerous factors, such as: parental support and parents’ socioeconomic status. Objectives: To find out the influence between parental support and parents’ socioeconomic status towards the knowledge of MHM in adolescents aged 15–18. Methods: This research uses unpaired categoric comparative analytical study with a cross-sectional design and purposive sampling technique. Result: The data analysis result obtained from 106 respondents resulted in a p-value > 0.005. There is no significant relationship between parental support (p-value = 0.738) and parents' socioeconomic status (p-value = 0.180) with MHM knowledge. In addition to that, there is no significant relationship between parents' socioeconomic status and parental support (p-value = 0.607). Conclusion: In this research, there was no significant relationship between parental support and parent’s socioeconomic status with MHM knowledge. Furthermore, there was no significant relationship between parent’s socioeconomic status and parental support. Most respondents (66%) participating has adequate MHM knowledge.
