Abstract

Online game addiction is an occurrence caused due to overexposure from playing online games. People who have become accustomed to playing online games and will eventually ask that person to play excessively, this incident is commonly referred to as Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD). The prevalence of Internet Gaming Disorder worldwide is recorded at around 0.21% - 57.5% of the world's population. Several studies show that the incidence of insomnia can be caused by online game addiction. This study was conducted to determine the correlation between online game addiction and the incidence of insomnia. This study used a cross-sectional study, using the IGDT-10 and ISI questionnaires to at least 72 respondents who met the research criteria. The data obtained will be analyzed using Pearson or Spearman and the SPSS 26.0 application. A total of 133 respondents' data were obtained, as many as 63 respondents (45.73%) were male and 70 respondents (52.63%) were female. The average IGDT-10 value obtained was 5.75 ± 4.68, while the prevalence value was 14.29% of the total respondents. The average value of the ISI obtained was 9.33 ± 7.11, while the prevalence value was 22.57% of the total respondents. This study used the Spearman correlation test method and the correlation coefficient value was 0.642 with a p value of p < 0.001 which means this research is significant. This study found that the correlation coefficient value was 0.642, so these results indicate that there is a strong and positive correlation between online game addiction and insomnia, which means that the higher the addiction level, the higher the insomnia incidence.
