Abstract

COVID-19 vaccination are still being continued in various countries including Indonesia to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. Several studies about the efficacy and impact of vaccines in reducing transmission, poor clinical outcomes, and mortality have been done in several countries, but the results of these studies show different results. Data about the relationship between vaccination and the severity of COVID-19 symptoms is still lack, especially in Indonesia. This study is to compare the severity of COVID-19 symptoms between unvaccinated and vaccinated COVID-19 patients. The purpose to this research is to compare the severity of symptoms in unvaccinated and vaccinated COVID-19 patients. This research is a cross-sectional study using unpaired categorical comparative analytical method. Secondary data is taken from the medical records of COVID-19 patients at Tegal Angus Public Health Center, Tangerang District from January to December 2021, sample will be selected by simple random sampling. Vaccine data of selected patients will be searched in the P-care registration. Data will be entered into form. Data analysis using Chi Square method and multivariate logistic regression. People who have not been vaccinated have a greater probability of experiencing COVID-19 with moderate and severe symptom that those who have been vaccinated with each OR 4.148 (95%CI 1.148-14.995; p value 0.026) and 26.00 (95%CI 2.451-27.582; p value 0.002). Vaccine status had a significant relationship with moderate and severe symptom, but not associated with mild symptom.
