Abstract

In this era of globalization, information and transactions can be accessed online (in a network), besides that people have started to make the transition to online space. Almost all activities can be done online in this era. Besides the increasing of technological advanced, and the outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) also causing of almost all activities to be done online. The existence of the internet is also very helpful in the development of modern times today. There are a lot of cases leaks of personal data online happening in Indonesia, while legal protection against leakage of personal data, and law enforcement against crimes that occur requires the seriousness of law enforcement officials, especially the police with their cybercrime team to improve knowledge and skills to deal with crimes that use the internet are not effective. Until now, Indonesia does not have a specific law that regulates the protection of personal data. The existence of law is very important for human welfare so that humans can develop, progress, and feel safe. However, the current law governing the protection of personal data is considered less effective. Until now, many Indonesians have become victims of personal data leaks, due to a lack of knowledge about the protection of personal data. Therefore, a law that specifically regulates the protection of personal data is needed.
