Abstract

The company in running its business requires funds to support the company's activities or operations. In principle, meeting the funding needs of a company can come from internal and external sources. Thus, each company is recommended or required to be able and smart to see and read the situation that occurs so that it can manage properly in order to become superior in competition. Decisions taken by managers in a company must be carefully considered sources of funds which will be chosen to produce an optimal capital structure. The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of return on assets, return on equity, and current ratio toward capital structure in consumer goods companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2013-2017. The population of this research is the consumer goods companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2013-2017. Further, with the employed purposive sampling and determined criteria, 20 companies are chosen as the samples. The data analysis method applied is multiple linear regression which is processed through SPSS 25. The result of this research shows that return on assets and current ratio have a significant negative impact toward capital structure partially, return on equity have a significant negative impact toward capital structure partially. On the other hand, return on assets, return on equity, and current ratio have significant simultaneous impact toward capital structure./Dalam menjalankan usaha, perusahaan membutuhkan dana untuk menunjang kegiatan operasionalnya. Pada prinsipnya pemenuhan kebutuhan dana berasal dari sumber internal dan eksternal. Dengan demikian, setiap perusahaan dituntut untuk mampu membaca situasi yang terjadi sehingga dapat mengelola dengan baik dan unggul dalam persaingan. Keputusan yang diambil oleh manajer dalam suatu perusahaan harus mempertimbangkan dengan cermat sumber dana yang akan dipilih untuk menghasilkan struktur modal yang optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh return on assets, return on equity, dan current ratio terhadap struktur modal pada perusahaan barang konsumen primer yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) selama periode 2013-2017. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah perusahaan barang konsumen primer yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia selama tahun 2013-2017. Selanjutnya, dengan menggunakan purposive sampling dan kriteria yang ditentukan, dipilih 20 perusahaan sebagai sampel. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah regresi linier berganda yang diolah melalui SPSS 25. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa return on assets dan current ratio berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap struktur modal secara parsial, return on equity berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap struktur modal secara parsial. Sedangkan return on assets, return on equity, dan current ratio berpengaruh signifikan secara simultan terhadap struktur modal.
