Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 adalah salah satu peristiwa global yang mempengaruhi setiap negara di dunia. Pada akhir November 2020, lebih dari 60 juta orang telah tertular virus dan lebih dari satu setengah juta telah meninggal. Di Amerika Serikat, pandemi COVID-19 melanda selama tahun pemilihan presiden. Amerika selalu menjadi panutan bagi negara-negara lain ketika dihadapkan dengan permasalahan terutama pandemi global. Banyak hal mengejutkan yang terjadi selama pandemi COVID-19. Perbedaan kepemimpinan selama COVID-19 merupakan salah satu sorotan yang dialami oleh Amerika Serikat. Selain itu, Amerika mengalami perubahan yang terlihat jelas di mata dunia sehingga menghasilkan gejolak baru secara global. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode descriptive comparative. Data dikumpulkan berupa data primer dan sekunder yang didapat dari berbagai sumber yang relevan, kemudian disajikan dengan teknik deskriptif dan eksplanatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran dan kepemimpinan Amerika Serikat mengalami perubahan selama pandemi COVID-19 berlangsung. Meskipun pandemi COVID-19 tidak berdampak terhadap pemilihan presiden Amerika Serikat, akan tetapi memberikan dampak yang jelas terhadap peran Amerika sebagai pemimpin dalam Kesehatan Global. / The Covid-19 pandemic is a global event that affects every country in the world. By the end of November 2020, more than 60 million people had contracted the virus and more than one and a half million had died. In the United States, the COVID-19 pandemic hit during the presidential election year. America has always been a role model for other countries when faced with problems, especially the global pandemic. Many surprising things have happened during the COVID-19 pandemic. The leadership gap during COVID-19 is one of the highlights of the United States. In addition, America is experiencing changes that are clearly visible in the eyes of the world, resulting in new global turmoil. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive comparative method. Data were collected in the form of primary and secondary data obtained from various relevant sources, then presented with descriptive and explanative techniques. The results show that the role and leadership of the United States has changed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has not had an impact on the United States presidential election, it has had a clear impact on America's role as a leader in Global Health.
