Abstract
This study is conducted to analyze the implementation plan of PSAK 71 regarding financial instruments. PSAK 71 was adapted from IFRS 9 as the substitute of PSAK 55 (adapted from IAS 39). The major changes between PSAK 55 and PSAK 71 are in the classification of financial assets, the calculation of impairment, and hedge accounting. These regulatory changes have impacted the financial institutions, especially banks. Therefore, the study is conducted in PT XYZ (bank), a client of Deloitte Indonesia. Currently, the implementation process in PT XYZ has not been fully implemented and is still in the middle of Phase 2. The process of financial assets classification has been established in accordance with the three classifications regulated in PSAK 71 and the amount of allowance on impairment loss (cadangan kerugian penurunan nilai CKPN) of PT XYZ, using expected credit loss (ECL) method, is predicted to increase by approximately 180% (according to the result of quantitative impact study done by Deloitte).
