Abstract

Based on the results of interviews with two class teachers of Kindergarten B Narada, during distance learning as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic which requires students to study from home, the English language skills of children aged 5-6 years in Kindergarten B Narada have decreased. This study aims to improve the mastery of English vocabulary and communication skills of early childhood through the picture story method in group B TK NR. This type of research is classroom action research and collaborative between researchers and classroom teachers. The research subjects were the children of group B of NR Kindergarten which amounted to 20 children. Data collection techniques using observation, documentation and interviews. The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative and descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the picture story method was able to improve listening skills, vocabulary mastery and English speaking skills for children / Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan dua orang guru kelas TK B Narada, selama pembelajaran jarak jauh akibat dari pandemi Covid 19 yang mengharuskan siswa belajar dari rumah, kemampuan berbahasa Inggris anak usia 5-6 tahun di TK B Narada mengalami penurunan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata bahasa inggris dan kemampuan berkomunikasi anak usia dini melalui metode cerita bergambar di kelompok B TK NR. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dan bersifat kolaboratif antara peneliti dan guru kelas. Subjek penelitian adalah anak kelompok B TK NR yang berjumlah 21 anak. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, dokumentasi dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data dilakukan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode cerita bergambar mampu meningkatkan kemampuan menyimak, penguasaan kosakata dan kemampuan berbicara bahasa inggris pada anak.
