Abstract

Latar Belakang Menurut kementerian kesehatan republik Indonesia aktivitas fisik masyarakat Indonesia semakin menurun. Mahasiswa kedokteran praklinik / Background According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, the physical activity of Indonesian people is declining. This can also be found in was found in the faculty of medicine preclinical student population. This phenomenon can be caused by various things such as lack of time or lack of motivation for doing physical activity. Low physical activity can cause various chronic diseases such as GERD, this can occur because low physical activity can cause an increase in body mass index and weakening of the smooth muscle in the oesophageal sphincter, causing reflux. There are several studies that state low physical activity can lead to GERD and high physical activity is protective against GERD, but there are studies that show the opposite of this finding. In addition, research on this topic in Indonesia is still understudied and needs to be researched. Objective This study wanted to determine the relationship between GERD and physical activity in preclinical medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University. Method This study used cross-sectional study method. By using the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Questionnaire (GERD-Q) to measure the incidence of GERD and the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) to measure the level of physical activity. The questionnaires will then be distributed to the active preclinical medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, PelitaHarapanUniversity. Results There were 197 samples in this study and 29 samples (14.7%) had GERD. The relationship between physical activity and GERD in preclinical students of the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University has a significant relationship with a p-value of 0.046. Conclusion There is a relationship between physical activity and GERD in preclinical students of the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University, which has a significant relationship with a p- value of 0.046. Key Word: Physical Activity, GERD, Preclinic Medical Student
