Abstract

Stress is a form of one's response both physically and mentally, to a change in their environment that is felt disturbing and causes them to be threatened. So actually, stress is something very natural. PT Bank UOB Indonesia, Tbk Palang Merah Branch, Medan is a company engaged in banking. The phenomenon happened is the occurence of work stress. One of the problems that caused work stress at PT Bank UOB Indonesia, Tbk Palang Merah Branch, Medan is the communication. This research uses the theories about employees’ communication and its impact on work stress. The framework of this research is to find out the relationship between employees’communication and work stress. The methods used by the writer in this research is quantitative, descriptive and assosiative research. Data used in this research are primary data and secondary data. This research uses simple linear regression, hypothesis test and coefficient determination to know the impact of employees’ communication towards work stress. Based on research result, the simple linear regression showed equation of Y = 52.110–0.563 X. It means that variable employees’ communication has an inverse relationship to work stress, that if there is an increase on employees’communication, the work stress will decrease. The conclusion on this research is the hypothesis test showed that the variable employees’ communication has impact on work stress. The coefficient of determination has resulted in 33.4% variable work stress can be explained by variable employees’ communication and the rest of 66.6% can be explained by other factor that is not mentioned in this research. For next researcher, the writer recommend to add other factors that can give impact on work stress such as compensation, workload, leadership, etc.The writer recommends that the company pays attention to the problem of stress that occurs to employees, for example by observing employee habits.
